DreamWorks Pictures


Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures announced on February 9, 2009, an exclusive long-term distribution and marketing deal with Steven Spielberg’s production company, DreamWorks Pictures. The first DreamWorks motion picture released under the Touchstone Pictures banner was I Am Number Four, on February 18, 2011. DreamWorks Animation is a separate company and not included in the deal.

History
October 12, 1994, DreamWorks SKG was founded as a film studio of live-action and animated films. The studio was founded by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen at Universal City, California.

September 2, 2015, DreamWorks will not renew its current distribution deal with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, which expires in August 2016. Disney released two more DreamWorks films: Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies and The Light Between Oceans.

December 16, 2015, Steven Spielberg, Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment and Entertainment One partnered to launch the content production company Amblin Partners, relegating DreamWorks to a brand for adult-themed films produced under the new company.
